In the Shade of a Sequoia
A downloadable visual novel for Windows and Android
"In the Shade of a Sequoia" is a fan VN based on the Goodnight Fellowship's "The Smoke Room."
Follow the story of Roscoe Conway --a new arrival to Echo struggling to step out from the long shadows of his past-- as he attempts to navigate his way to becoming the better man he wants to be. However, the roads of self-discovery and self-improvement are never without their fair share of hardships, and the mistakes of the past may not be so easily overcome...
(This VN does not contain any spoilers for The Smoke Room, and does not require any knowledge of TSR to be enjoyed.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is my first large scale writing project, as well as my first try creating a visual novel. This project is heavily inspired by the Goodnight Fellowship's "The Smoke Room," and utilizes the project's assets with express written permission. I wanted to create something to give back to a community I have loved and been a part of for the past 20 years, and I sincerely hope that you enjoy it. Thank you for taking the time to read what I have put over 500 days of my life into. If you enjoy this work, please consider supporting George Squares and the rest of the Goodnight Fellowship through official channels.

Alright I finished it! Well it was interesting.... I have to say it gets long winded and wordy quickly, many scenes feel too long. But the overall plot is interesting. I like hunter, he's so cute! Roscoe is alright, he is all over the place but there is a reason for that.
Spoiler parts below:
It is kinda hard to believe everyone keeps giving him another chance when he does something wrong in every scene! Anyway the story climax and final parts are the best. The monster and spirit where cool. The resolution felt fitting and it ended on a hopeful note.
So yeah it was alright in the end.
Roscoe is a character who was very heavily based on my own experiences in life, and a lot of those second chances felt very miraculous to me indeed. From a narrative perspective, though, that's perfectly valid criticism, and I appreciate your honesty very much!
Regarding the verbosity of it, it's something I admittedly have a tendency to do, but I wrote it the way I wanted to, and I'm happy with it. That in no means devalues your input, though, and should I decide to write another story, I'll keep it in mind as sound advice.
Thank you so very much for taking the time to read the story I worked so hard on for so long. It means the world to me that you were willing to give your precious time to my story. <3
Ah, I see.
Yeah, sometimes its easy to write too much when you have a lot of idea!
Anyway I do admire your dedication and hard work on this story.
Interesting, I'll try it when I can.
Thank you so much! I sincerely hope you enjoy it, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
